FAQ - Malfunctions on the spray gun

Cause

• Material nozzle loose
• Material nozzle clogged 
• Material needle dimension too short 
• Foreign body in the nozzle 

Remedy

• Tighten nozzle 
• Remove material needle or nozzle and clean with thinner 
• If necessary, install new nozzle-needle set

Cause

• (Self-adjusting) needle packing defective 
• Needle packing gland tightened too loosely 
• Needle spring broken 
• Material quantity adjusting screw turned out too far to the rear 

Remedy

• Replace needle packing 
• Adjust, gland/seal 
• Replace needle spring 
• Readjust (adjust) gun

Cause

• Valve spring or valve plug damaged 
• Valve stem heavy
• Sealing package for air piston (tie rod) damaged 

Remedy

• Replace parts (Rep-Set) 
• Clean with thinner
• Lubricate (lightly) with gun grease 
• Reinstall air piston

Cause

• Atomizing air enters the cup via material channel
• Material nozzle is insufficiently tightened 
• Air head not completely screwed on, air channel on gun head clogged
• Nozzle seat damaged 

Remedy

• Tighten, clean or replace parts accordingly

Cause

• Material nozzle only insufficiently tightened 
• Air head not completely screwed on
• Air head dirty, stuck 
• Nozzle insert or seat damaged 

Remedy

• Tighten, clean or replace parts accordingly

Cause

• One-sided contamination or damage of the horn bore 

Remedy

• Clean bores with thinner 
• Clean air channels with special cleaning needle 
• Replace air cap

Cause

• Material nozzle pin or air ducts dirty

Remedy

• Turn air head by 180°, check again 
• Clean material nozzle pins and air ducts with special cleaning needle 
• Renew nozzle set 

Cause

• Not enough material in the bucket or material supply blocked 
• Material nozzle is loose
• Needle seal defective 
• Nozzle set contaminated or defective 

Remedy

• Refill material 
• For automatic guns, unclog vent hole 
• Tighten nozzle 
• Replace needle packing 
• Clean parts or install new nozzle set

Cause

• Positioning of paint mist and nozzle set not optimal 
• Packing for air piston dirty or defective 

Remedy

• Correct installation 
• Install new nozzle set 
• Clean or renew 

Cause

• Center air opening (annular gap or air cap and nozzles) around the material nozzle dirty or deformed 

Remedy

• Clean thoroughly or replace nozzle set
